Am I suffering from neurasthenia?

Patient's question:

My mental state hasn't been great recently. I tend to get easily anxious and panic at the slightest loud noise. Moreover, I've been more irritable and sensitive lately, often getting angry at my boyfriend for no apparent reason. Actually, he hasn't done anything wrong. He says I have neurasthenia. Do I really have neurasthenia?

Doctor's answer:

Your condition is indeed not excluded, and there may be a possibility of neurasthenia. A small portion of women experience hormonal changes before and after menstruation, which may lead to changes in temperament. A small number of people may also experience changes in temperament due to abnormal thyroid function. Some may develop neurasthenia due to poor rest recently. First, it is recommended to adjust dietary and sleep habits, get proper rest, and see how it improves. If there is no improvement, it is necessary to seek timely follow-up treatment.
