How to handle fever in aplastic anemia?

Patient's question:

I have been experiencing frequent dizziness recently, and I can't seem to eat properly either. My mental state isn't great either. When I went to the hospital for a check-up, they said it's a blood-related issue. Could you please advise on how to handle fever in aplastic anemia?

Doctor's answer:

Afebrile aplastic anemia needs to consider pathological fever as well as separating infectious fever. If the patient does not have other adverse reactions while feverish, and inflammatory indicators do not decrease significantly, it is generally considered that the fever is caused by aplastic anemia. In this case, systemic anti-inflammatory drugs can be used to reduce fever, while etiological treatment for aplastic anemia should be implemented. If inflammatory indicators are high, it is generally considered that separating infection needs to be treated with anti-infective therapy.
