Does a baby who is not shy have a faster brain development?

Patient's question:

A friend of mine has been complaining of headaches recently and sometimes has seizures. They don't want to go to the hospital for a check-up. I was wondering if babies who are not shy might develop their brains faster?

Doctor's answer:

If the baby is not afraid of strangers, it is only related to his personality, and has nothing to do with the baby's brain development. If the baby is exposed to a more complex environment and more people when he is young, the baby generally will not be too afraid of strangers. But if the baby is always taken care of by the same person, he will be shy of strangers. It is recommended that parents take the baby out more often, so that the baby can understand more new things.
