Features: In the 1950s and 1960s, our press organized the publication of selections of outstanding long novels nationwide, showcasing the style and level of long novel creation at that time. After the new period, the number of long novels surged, with themes, styles, and techniques becoming increasingly diverse. To more comprehensively reflect the achievements of long novel creation during this era, in May 2004, we edited and published the series "Representative Works of Renowned Contemporary Chinese Novelists," featuring the works of twenty-five writers. These works excelled in depth, uniqueness, or had sparked strong responses, or were widely favored by readers. The series received positive social feedback after publication. For this re-publication, we adjusted the original series' selection, adding more works, while categorizing those that won the Mao Dun Literature Prize into the "Complete Collection of Mao Dun Literature Prize Winners." As a result, the selection of "Representative Works of Renowned Contemporary Chinese Novelists" is now more complete and comprehensive, aligning with our previously published series "Contemporary Chinese Long Novels Collection" and "Complete Collection of Mao Dun Literature Prize Winners." This ensures readers can gain a clearer understanding of the development trajectory and overall style of long novel creation in China since the founding of the People's Republic from different stages and perspectives.
