Can it still be Kawasaki disease if you have a fever?

Patient's question:

The baby has had a fever for several days. I previously understood it might be Kawasaki disease, and the symptoms are quite similar to this condition. I was just about to take him to the hospital in the afternoon, but now his fever has subsided. His temperature has dropped to 37 degrees. Could it still be Kawasaki disease after the fever has gone down?

Doctor's answer:

Hello! Based on your child's condition, it should be a common cold and will absolutely not be Kawasaki disease. Typical symptoms of Kawasaki disease include: persistent high fever, swollen lymph nodes, recurrent rash on the body, non-exudative redness in the eyes, changes in the mouth (such as strawberry tongue, red lips, cracking, etc.), and peeling of the fingertips during the recovery period. Based on your baby's condition, it will absolutely not be Kawasaki disease. For further diagnosis, it is recommended that you undergo a thorough examination under the guidance of a doctor.
