Elbow dislocation, can you have sex life?

Patient's question:

I went to play basketball last night and accidentally injured my hand. At the time, it felt extremely painful, so I went to see a doctor. The doctor said it's a dislocated elbow joint. Can I have sex? How long will it take to heal? I'm currently in the pre-pregnancy stage, so I really want to get my hand fixed quickly. Is there any method for this?

Doctor's answer:

Mainly, it depends on the severity of your pain. If the pain is not severe, it will not have a significant impact on your sex life. Joint dislocation can recover well gradually, but it requires immobilization, such as using a sling or a cast for 3-4 weeks. The post-recovery results are quite good. However, it still needs to be noted that if the treatment for elbow dislocation is not gradual, it may lead to recurrent traumatic arthritis and some pain issues later on.
Regarding your current attempt to conceive, sexual activity is still acceptable, but you should pay attention to appropriate exercise and avoid re-injury. You can also take some blood-activating and anti-inflammatory medications. It is not recommended to conceive while taking medication.
