Can you wear contact lenses with a stye?

Patient's question:

Myopia around 400 degrees, I have been wearing glasses all the time. However, recently due to work requirements, I need to wear contact lenses for a few days. Unfortunately, I have developed a stye. I am afraid that wearing contact lenses will make it worse. So, doctor, can I wear contact lenses with a stye?

Doctor's answer:

A chalazion is caused by a bacterial infection that leads to inflammation of the eyelid. Since you have a chalazion, it is recommended that you do not wear contact lenses. You can wear contact lenses again after the chalazion has been treated and healed. Currently, you can use antibiotic eye drops to treat the eye. You can also use oral antibiotics for systemic treatment simultaneously. If the chalazion becomes inflamed, it can be incised with a blade for drainage.
