Having an unquenchable hope in one's heart, the suffering and trials we once found unbearable will not be entirely without value. They will mature our thoughts and character. Therefore, when difficulties and setbacks come, we should face them calmly and deal with them optimistically. As the ancients said, "There is no greater sorrow than a dead heart." Without belief, we lose our ideals in life, becoming like walking dead, wasting our years. Because of belief, our hearts will not wither, the night will no longer seem long, the days will not be dull and tasteless, and life will become exceptionally beautiful, with passion constantly stirring within.
There was a person who fell into a river. The current was fierce, and he was swept downstream. He struggled desperately in the water, trying to grasp anything to save his life, but he could only hold onto water, not even a blade of grass! He thought, "This is it. I'm finished. There's no saving me!" Just as he was thinking this, he immediately lost his strength and stopped struggling, slowly sinking into the water. Suddenly, he remembered that there was a tree on the riverbank nearby, its branches extending into the water. He could hold onto that tree.
