Features: To sort out and summarize the achievements of prose creation in China in 2006, the Chinese Prose Association selected 58 outstanding prose pieces from the vast body of prose works. After careful discussion and research by a specially formed selection committee, 10 excellent works were chosen and listed, presented to prose enthusiasts and readers. During the selection and evaluation process, we adhered to artistic quality, professionalism, fairness, and literary conscience. The judges closely monitored and tracked prose creation across the country over the past year, reading prose works from almost all publicly published periodicals. With a thorough understanding and grasp of the current state of prose creation, they repeatedly deliberated, debated, and judged the value of the works, thereby sifting through the sand to select the best pieces. These include deeply moving or thought-provoking works that have received widespread acclaim in reality and have had broad influence, possess timeless artistic charm, and feature sharp, innovative, and avant-garde creations. The selection aims to fulfill the trust and expectations of the times and readers, and to fulfill our responsibility to the cause of contemporary Chinese literature.
