Features: "Six Lectures on Lu Xun" is basically written by the author while he served as a visiting professor at Korea University in South Korea in 1999, or it could also be called a book of solitude. At that time, he often locked himself in a small room of less than 20 square meters on the back mountain, flipping through the limited copies of Lu Xun's works he carried with him and could borrow from Korea University after class. Whenever he had insights, he eagerly wrote them down as articles. By the end of the year, he returned to Shanghai, made some minor revisions, and submitted the manuscript to Shanghai Sanlian Press. After the book was published in 2000, many friends suggested revisions. Some of the more mediocre parts even had people suggesting they be deleted. The author almost took action a few times, but he never imagined that revising his own articles would be so difficult—it seemed he would need the courage of a surgeon to perform a flesh-and-bone operation. However, being no Guan Yu, he had to abandon the plan of making extensive revisions. The original "Six Lectures" had the main text unchanged, but to make it more prominent, some subheadings were moved to the table of contents. The author thought it would be better to keep new and old articles clearly separated. Revising the old works over and over again made them almost indistinguishable from newly written ones. Not only was it disrespectful to history, but even if the present self attacked the past self, who could guarantee that it would be a wise move?
