Is coughing up blood with emphysema cancer?

Patient's question:

My lungs haven't been very good for over ten years. Previously, there were some issues. Hello, is emphysema with hemoptysis cancerous?

Doctor's answer:

Pulmonary diseases, if they persist for more than ten years, require a thorough examination and diagnosis through chest X-rays. Essentially, emphysema is primarily a functional issue of the chronic respiratory system, with symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, and wheezing being the main manifestations. Hemoptysis (coughing up blood) is relatively less common unless it has led to the expansion of the urinary tract. Therefore, further implementation of CT scans is necessary to rule out concerns about tumors or inflammation. In such cases, coughing with phlegm and hemoptysis may be the main symptoms, and they can be complemented with tumor marker screening.
