Patient's question:
I've been experiencing severe pain in my heart area recently, as if something is there. I went to the hospital for treatment and found out that I have dilated cardiomyopathy. After treatment, the hospital prescribed many medications, but I'm not quite clear about it. I'm seeking help from doctors regarding the medication issues after treatment for dilated cardiomyopathy.Doctor's answer:
Dilated cardiomyopathy should first identify the underlying cause and provide additional treatment, such as controlling infections, quitting smoking and alcohol, and treating other endocrine disorders. Secondly, medication for heart failure should be administered, commonly including ACE inhibitors or ARBs, beta-blockers, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists, ivabradine, diuretics, digitalis, and others. For left ventricular ejection fraction below or equal to 35%, cardiac resynchronization therapy can be considered. Anticoagulation therapy, treatment for arrhythmias, and comprehensive prevention and treatment of cardiac sudden death should also be implemented.
