Features: "Selected Lyrics of Southern Song Masters," is a book compiled and written by students based on the recordings of a series of lectures given by the author in winter 2002 at Nankai University. At that time, the students who came to listen to the lectures had not taken the course on Tang and Five Dynasties as well as Northern Song lyrics, which were the precursors of Southern Song lyrics. Therefore, the author had to give two introductory lectures on Tang and Five Dynasties as well as Northern Song lyrics before formally starting the lectures on Southern Song lyrics. The book includes: "On Li Qingzhao's Lyrics," "On Lu You's Lyrics," "On Jiang Kui's Lyrics," "On Wu Wenying's Lyrics," "On Wang Yi's Lyrics," and an appendix titled "On the Feminine Traits of 'Hua Jian Ci' and the Heroic and Unrestrained Lyrics of Jia Xuan."
