Patient's question:
Auntie started suffering from facial paralysis two years ago. Currently, the facial paralysis hasn't fully recovered, but there is a recurrence of a post-stroke symptom known as "small eyes." Therefore, she wants to consult on how to deal with the post-stroke symptom of small eyes.Doctor's answer:
The patient has suffered from facial paralysis for over two years and has experienced recurring post-stroke sequelae, such as uneven eyes. Acupuncture at local and distal points such as Jingming, Chengqi, and Yaorang can enhance muscle contraction and promote the complete recovery of nerve function. Herbal treatment focusing on nourishing the liver and kidneys, invigorating blood circulation, and promoting qi flow is recommended. Appropriate use of antibiotic eye drops is also advised. First, forcefully open the eyes and hold for 5 seconds, then forcefully close them and hold for 5 seconds—repeat this 10 times. Next, gently massage the area around the eyes with the palms of the thumb and index finger in 3 circles. Finally, apply pressure to the Jingming point.
