Close to the New Syllabus, Selecting from Exam Vocabulary
This book is closely aligned with the 2005 postgraduate entrance exam English syllabus, based on the English examination questions from the 1990 to 2004 national postgraduate entrance exams. Through computer frequency analysis, we found that approximately 2,000 core vocabulary words are tested each year in the exam papers, and these words appear in various forms with different prefixes and suffixes. Therefore, we have selected 2,005 frequently occurring syllabus words from the exam papers, as well as 1,298 syllabus-excluded words marked with an asterisk, and supplemented them with a list of commonly used prefixes and suffixes. This allows candidates to "catch all the vocabulary in one net." Additionally, the appendix of this book includes 2,776 commonly used syllabus and four-six words not listed above. It enables candidates to quickly memorize key points and master postgraduate entrance exam vocabulary within 30 days, minimizing the aimlessness of their study and preparation.
Accompanied by Authoritative Translations and Exam Examples
All word definitions in this book are based on the postgraduate entrance exam syllabus, with appropriate references to authoritative English reference books and new contemporary texts for supplementation. The book includes over 2,000 exam examples from past years, each accompanied by an authoritative translation. This allows candidates to experience exam examples while memorizing words, achieving the goal of "learning both at once" and providing more practical opportunities for candidates.
Scientific Letter Arrangement for Easy Listening and Memorization
The book is divided into 30 units, arranged scientifically according to the order of letter memorization, divided into four levels:
- Level A (fewer than 50 new words per letter): Prioritize memorization: X, Y, Z, Q, J, K, U
- Level B (50–150 new words per letter): Focus on memorization: V, W, O, N, L
- Level C (150–300 new words per letter): Strengthen memorization: R, G, I, M, T, B, D, E
- Level D (more than 300 new words per letter): Difficult memorization: C, P, S, A
Additionally, we arrange them based on word roots and prefixes/suffixes, accumulating from fewer to more. The book also comes with a companion audio tape, allowing candidates to listen and memorize while reading. This not only greatly enhances vocabulary retention but also effectively improves listening skills. "January Mastery + Audio Tape" enables candidates to use both listening and reading to memorize words effortlessly.
Detailed Exercise Answers and Diverse Formats
Each unit includes approximately 30 vocabulary exercises with detailed answer explanations, presented in various formats. Some are multiple-choice, while others are fill-in-the-blank. Some are from past exam papers, while others are classic exam questions. This method of learning and testing simultaneously, along with segmented study, enhances candidates' interest and improves learning efficiency.
Rich and Innovative Content with Unique Memorization Methods
In addition to phonetic symbols, part of speech, definitions, phrases, and expressions, the entries include new content:
1) Smart Memorization: Lists related words, such as synonyms, antonyms, and etymology analysis.
2) Distinguishing Similar Words: Lists words with similar meanings that are frequently tested, explaining their specific usage contexts. This helps candidates grasp vocabulary through analogy.
In summary, this book is not just a vocabulary guide but also revolves around past exam papers, providing a collection of exam question points. It enables candidates to master all key postgraduate entrance exam vocabulary within 30 days, improve their English proficiency, and achieve rapid breakthroughs in English learning.
Finally, wish all candidates success in their postgraduate entrance exams!
