Features: Today's Chinese is a Chinese language textbook planned by the Office of the National Working Committee on Teaching Chinese to Foreign Speakers. It is specifically designed for Chinese learners whose native or medium language is Spanish. The entire set consists of a textbook, a workbook, and a teacher's book, each with three volumes, totaling nine books. Today's Chinese aims to cultivate learners' basic skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Chinese, as well as a certain level of communicative competence in Chinese. It can also be used for teaching specific language skills. The textbook follows the principles of Chinese language itself, second language acquisition and teaching, and is tailored to the characteristics of learners whose native or medium language is Spanish. It is concise, focused, and highly targeted. Each lesson in Today's Chinese consists of six parts: text, vocabulary, notes, language points, cultural points, and comprehensive exercises. It takes structure as the main thread, combines function and culture, and uses daily communicative activities as teaching content. The selected materials are realistic and aligned with life. The textbook adheres to the principle of practicality, with grammar explanations presented in the form of language points. The selection of language points is arranged from easy to difficult, from simple to complex, and is all basic and practical. The explanations of language points are concise and brief, primarily using examples to help learners understand and master them. Today's Chinese incorporates a rich variety of exercises that follow the principles of language acquisition. These exercises are divided into two parts: one is included in the textbook, and the other is compiled into a workbook. Most exercises in the textbook are suitable for classroom use and can be conducted under the guidance of the teacher. The exercises in the workbook are designed for homework and are completed independently by the learners. Today's Chinese consists of 75 lessons, with each lesson designed for 4-6 class periods. The specific teaching time can be adjusted based on the actual situation of the learners. Lessons 1-5 of the first volume focus on Chinese phonetics, employing a method of learning pronunciation within the flow of speech. The text only provides a certain context and does not include Chinese characters, with the aim of strengthening pronunciation training and laying a solid foundation in phonetics. The vocabulary section consists of formal vocabulary, proper nouns, and supplementary vocabulary. Formal vocabulary requires recognition and writing skills, while supplementary vocabulary only requires recognition. Some supplementary vocabulary may be repeated. Chinese characters are one of the key teaching points. In addition to explaining the basic strokes and main characteristics of Chinese characters, a tracing-based exercise method is designed. The cultural points primarily focus on introducing traditional and communicative culture, reflecting the rich connotations of Chinese culture and the thinking patterns and values of contemporary Chinese people. The Teacher's Book is provided for reference and aims to help teachers determine teaching priorities and offer additional teaching materials. It is not a mandatory standard lesson plan.
