What are the symptoms of pseudohypertrophic muscular dystrophy?

Patient's question:

I always feel unwell, and I have the habit of getting a health check-up every year. This year, during my health check-up, the doctor told me that I have pseudohypertrophic muscular dystrophy. I want to know what symptoms are associated with pseudohypertrophic muscular dystrophy?

Doctor's answer:

Becker-type MD (BMD): Also known as benign pseudohypertrophic muscular dystrophy, it typically begins after the age of 10. The first symptom is weakness in the pelvic and thigh muscles, with slow progression and a long course of the disease. Once symptoms reappear, individuals cannot walk for 25 years or longer. Most people remain stable until the age of 30-40, with a better prognosis. Its serum CPK levels are not as significantly elevated as in Duchenne type, and muscle tissue chemical staining can reveal type IIb fibers, which is also different from DMD.
