Patient's question:
My sister suffers from Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). The weather has been unstable these past few days, and she accidentally caught a cold, which led to a lung infection. I would like to ask how should such patients with MSA and lung infection be treated?Doctor's answer:
When family members or other relatives have symptoms of upper respiratory tract infection, they are strictly forbidden from touching the patient to prevent cross-infection. During exercise, the patient should choose a place with fresh air. Open the windows quickly, ventilate the room twice a day for 15-20 minutes. The indoor temperature should not fluctuate too much, usually between 20-22 degrees. Patients with decreased blood pressure at night should increase the temperature by 1-2 degrees. The room humidity should always be maintained at 50%. When the indoor air is dry, a basin of water or a clean damp towel can be placed near the radiator or other heating devices to increase the indoor humidity.
