New-generation talented young writer Chen Xi spent three years creating a miracle. The novel "Passed By" immediately caused a stir in the literary circle upon its release. He presented and interpreted a series of yet colorful love stories from 1994 to 2004 in a completely new way for readers. It is one of the rare and highly exploratory literary works in Chinese literature in recent years.
The entire novel "Passed By" is approximately 350,000 words in length. The writing style is bold and unrestrained, with a unique and innovative approach. The story is exaggerated yet exceptionally rational, complex in structure yet clear in narrative, full of suspense and surprises, yet without any. The language is humorous and witty, with precise and distinctive word choices, boundless imagination, and strong visual and tactile effects. At the same time, the novel draws inspiration from cinematic techniques, pioneering a completely new style similar to "reading a movie" or "experiencing a novel." This style is an expression form that exists between film and literature, offering readers a cinematic way to appreciate stories—a "visualist" novel.
