How should polycystic kidney disease be treated?

Patient's question:

The doctor heard from my mom that my aunt was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease at the hospital the day before yesterday. I've never heard of this disease before. My aunt's family isn't well-off, so is the treatment cost high? How many people have polycystic kidney disease?
Hello doctor, is this disease very serious? Could you please give some advice? Thank you so much!

Doctor's answer:

That's right, polycystic kidney disease is hereditary. Adult polycystic kidney disease contains multiple cysts from birth, but it generally shows no clinical symptoms in the early stages and does not require special treatment. It usually begins to show clinical symptoms again after the age of 30. The earlier the onset age, the more severe the clinical symptoms; the later the onset age, the relatively milder the clinical symptoms. Males are more severely affected than females.
