Features: Bian stone therapy is a great invention of the Chinese nation, born from her extraordinary wisdom in the Stone Age, which has made significant contributions to the prosperity and development of the Chinese nation. From 500 BC to the Qin and Han dynasties, the ancient medical scholars compiled the "Neijing," a book that recorded the five pillars of medicine—Bian stone, acupuncture, herbal medicine, guided exercise, and Qiao therapy—constructing the magnificent hall of traditional Chinese medicine.
In the "Lingshu·Nine Needles and Twelve Origins," ancient acupuncture scholars, borrowing the authority of the legendary Yellow Emperor, decreed, "When the people are ill, do not use Bian stone, but pass on acupuncture to future generations. It must be clearly regulated and never forgotten. First establish the acupuncture classics." After this, physicians gradually abandoned Bian therapy and ceased studying it, causing it to gradually fade from the medical field.
By the Eastern Han Dynasty, Hua Tuo was proficient in acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medicine, inventing Mabosan—a anesthesia for surgical operations conducted under the guidance of guided exercise. He also created the health-preserving exercise—Five Animal Games—yet never mentioned Bian stone therapy. Eastern Han scholar Fu Qian remarked, "In later times, there were no good stones, so iron was used as a substitute." This indicates that Bian stone therapy had been lost for two thousand years.
Professor Meng has collected and summarized the diseases treated by Bian therapy in recent years. Guided by the theories of traditional Chinese medicine's meridians and tendons, as well as modern theories, he has argued the theory, method, prescription, and acupoint techniques for various diseases. This book can promote the revival and popularization of Bian stone therapy, allowing it to shine anew in the 21st century and contribute to the cause of human health.
