Do you need to treat moderate fatty liver?

Patient's question:

Recently, during a health check-up, I found out that I have fatty liver, and it's moderate fatty liver. I'm very worried and currently undergoing treatment, but the results haven't been very effective. So, I'm seeking advice from online experts—what are some good methods to treat moderate fatty liver?

Doctor's answer:

Early detection and active treatment generally lead to recovery without leaving any aftereffects.
The treatment of fatty liver fibrosis and cirrhosis involves anti-fibrosis medications. Drugs such as retinoic acid (vitamin A), interferons, proline analogs, prolyl hydroxylase inhibitors, and colchicine interfere with at least one or several steps in the collagen evolution process. Vitamin A preparations like retinoic acid and β-carotene have therapeutic potential. Interferons come in three types: α, β, and γ. Currently, it is believed that α and γ interferons have significant anti-fibrosis effects, with γ interferon showing the strongest anti-fibrosis efficacy. Therefore, using interferons in compensated cirrhosis patients may lead to decompensation.
