Features: Professor Gu Zhengyang's research on the English translation of ancient Chinese poetry, ci poems, and qu songs has gone through different stages. From his published works, we can see a gradual and progressive development in his research, moving from linguistic studies of translation to poetic exploration, and finally to cultural reflection. This constitutes a continuous and systematic progression in his research. The path he has taken in his research is closely tied to the development of Chinese translation studies. By carefully reading this book, we can discover that the author's research is fundamentally text-based, deriving and uncovering the rich cultural elements embedded in the texts, and then exploring specific methods and approaches to convey these cultural elements. It combines cultural awareness, poetic appreciation, and the exploration and summary of linguistic conversion techniques, with the three elements interacting dynamically. This fully demonstrates the uniqueness of the author's exploration in this field. As for this judgment, I wonder if my colleagues in the translation field would agree. I believe that Professor Gu Zhengyang's research will continue to highlight its value as time passes.
