Features: Confucianism is the foundation and mainstream of Chinese traditional culture. It advocates the study of "benevolence" and "sageliness": with "benevolence" and "self-restraint" as the ideological basis for caring about others and fostering a collective consciousness; and with "sageliness" aimed at benefiting the people and promoting harmony among all nations. These two concepts are organically linked and mutually reinforcing. Over long-term development, they have formed a sophisticated and unique system of humanistic thought, nurturing numerous excellent national spirits and traditional virtues among the Chinese nation. The author advocates the creation of "Contemporary Neo-Confucianism," which is developed under the guidance of Marxism in its evolving form, based on a correct and scientific understanding of Confucianism. It discards the dross of Confucianism, draws upon and integrates the outstanding cultures of foreign lands, especially Western culture, and combines it with the realities of contemporary society to create a "new Confucianism." It represents an innovation of Chinese culture under new historical conditions, serving as a necessary and important aspect of building a socialist advanced culture. It will play a positive role in constructing a socialist harmonious society in China, comprehensively building a "moderately prosperous society," advancing peace and development for humanity, and building a harmonious world, making new contributions for the Chinese nation.
