Can pulmonary fibrosis still be treated?

Patient's question:

Recently, I've been experiencing chest pain and tightness in my chest. The hospital examination indicated a respiratory disease, but the medication hasn't been very effective. Recently, my cough has worsened. Can pulmonary fibrosis be treated?

Doctor's answer:

Early-stage pulmonary fibrosis can still be treated. Alveolitis and fibrosis can potentially be reversed in the early stages. Therefore, for this disease, early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment are crucial. If it reaches the middle or late stages, when pulmonary fibrosis is too pronounced and severely affects respiratory function, treatment becomes significantly more challenging. In other words, once it is detected that the lungs are again at risk, standardized treatment should be initiated as soon as possible to prevent further irreversible fibrotic tissue from forming. This would be much more serious, and the effectiveness of treatment would be greatly reduced. Therefore, it is equally important for both doctors and patients to prioritize early detection. Thank you.
