What symptoms does a liver cyst have?

Patient's question:

I am 38 years old. Recently, I feel that my liver is very tired. I haven't had a good appetite, and at night, I always feel a sharp pain in my stomach. I went to the nearby hospital for a check-up and was told it was liver disease. They asked me to get an injection. Could you please tell me what symptoms are associated with liver cysts?

Doctor's answer:

Cysts can generally be classified as non-parasitic or parasitic cysts, as well as autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) (non-parasitic liver cysts). They usually do not cause obvious symptoms and are often discovered during routine physical examinations. Liver cysts are generally benign and can be solitary or multiple, with or without communication with the bile ducts. Very large solitary cysts in the liver parenchyma are rare. Most cysts are lined with biliary epithelium, some with interstitial cells, or other rare types. Multiple cysts in the right lobe may gradually form diverticula due to changes in the basal membrane. Alternatively, cyst formation may result from abnormal epithelial cell metabolism, shedding, and proliferation, or from local ischemia, inflammatory reactions, and interstitial fibrosis leading to tubular obstruction.
