Red Sorghum Clan - Representative Novels of Famous Contemporary Chinese Writers

Author: Mo Yan
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2007-01-01
Features: In the 1950s and 1960s, our publishing house organized the publication of a nationwide selection of outstanding long novels, showcasing the style and level of long novel creation at that time. After the new period, the number of long novels increased significantly, with diverse themes, styles, and techniques. To more comprehensively reflect the achievements of long novel creation during this period, in May 2004, we edited and published the series "Representative Works of Famous Contemporary Chinese Novelists," featuring the works of twenty-five writers. These works excelled in depth, uniqueness, or had sparked strong responses, or were widely enjoyed by readers. The series received positive social feedback after publication. For this re-publication, we adjusted the original series list, selected additional works, and included those that had won the Mao Dun Literature Prize in the "Complete Collection of Mao Dun Literature Prize Winners." As a result, the selection of the "Representative Works of Famous Contemporary Chinese Novelists" series has become more complete and comprehensive, and it aligns with our previously published series "Contemporary Chinese Long Novels Collection" and "Complete Collection of Mao Dun Literature Prize Winners." This ensures that readers can gain a clearer understanding of the development and overall style of long novel creation in China since the founding of the People's Republic of China from different stages and perspectives.
