Features: This book is part of the "National Plan for the 11th Five-Year Plan" in general higher education and is a research outcome of the "Project for Building 100 Excellent Course Textbooks in Higher Education." It was revised based on the first edition, according to the "Basic Requirements for Teaching in the Course of Structural Mechanics" formulated by the Non-Mechanical Specialty Teaching Guidance Subcommittees of the Teaching Guidance Committee of Mechanics under the Ministry of Education. The first edition ["Structural Mechanics Tutorial (I)" and "Structural Mechanics Tutorial (II)"] was a textbook for the 21st Century Curriculum, awarded the First Prize of the National Excellent Textbook for Higher Education in 2002. Teaching practices based on this series of books won the First Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award in 2001 and were recognized as a National Excellent Course in 2003. The second edition adopts a new organizational structure: first, the content of the entire book is clearly divided into basic and supplementary/advanced materials, and then these two parts are separately compiled into "Structural Mechanics I—Basic Tutorial" (abbreviated as Volume I) and "Structural Mechanics II—Advanced Tutorial" (abbreviated as Volume II). The basic tutorial focuses on laying a solid foundation for the course and fulfilling its core requirements, while the advanced tutorial aims to expand and enhance learning. Schools can select different levels of supplementary and advanced materials based on their actual needs to flexibly improve teaching quality. The entire book consists of 17 chapters, divided into Volume I and Volume II. This book is "Structural Mechanics II—Advanced Tutorial," comprising 7 chapters, covering main topics such as general theories of statically determinate structures, general theories of statically indeterminate structures, energy principles, continuation of structural dynamics calculations, stability calculations of structures, ultimate load calculations of structures, and structural mechanics and methodology. At the end of Volume I, there is a CD-ROM titled "Structural Mechanics Solver," which includes the solver for structural mechanics, flowchart design of plane frame programs, and source code. Additionally, supplementary materials include "Structural Mechanics Online Course," "Structural Mechanics Study Guide," and "Structural Mechanics Electronic Teaching Plan" (both Chinese and English versions). These supplementary teaching software fully leverage advanced multimedia presentation techniques to create an excellent learning environment. They not only allow engineering students to autonomously and systematically study structural mechanics courses in a network environment but also serve as a self-learning tool for engineering technicians in civil engineering, water conservancy, mechanics, and related fields to update their knowledge. This book can be used as a textbook for structural mechanics courses in civil engineering, water conservancy, mechanics, and other disciplines in higher education, as well as a reference for relevant engineering technicians.
