Fat liver improvement

Patient's question:

Doctor, my father was carefully examined in the hospital yesterday and found to have fatty liver disease. I was told that this is a difficult disease to cure. I would like to know how to treat it, how great the chances of cure are, and what precautions should be taken during treatment. I hope you can give me an answer.

Doctor's answer:

The treatment of fatty liver cannot be generalized, so the prognosis of fatty liver cannot be generalized either. Fatty liver is divided into mild, moderate, and severe degrees. Generally, for mild to moderate fatty liver, if liver function (transaminases) remains unchanged and metabolic disorders are not significant, medication may not be necessary. Instead, dietary changes, increased activity, and abstinence from alcohol can help control the condition well, and the liver may even fully recover to normal, meaning it can be cured. However, for some moderate to severe fatty liver cases, if there is significant liver function abnormalities or concurrent metabolic disorders, medication treatment may be required in addition to adjusting dietary habits, increasing activity, and abstaining from alcohol.
