Dao Tong Yu Yi - A Study of Northern Song Dynasty Philosophical Trends

Author: Li Xiangjun

Publishing Date: 2006-12-01
Features: During the Northern Song Dynasty, traditional Chinese philosophy was in the transitional phase from the dominance of the Three Teachings (Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism) to the supremacy of Neo-Confucianism. The integration and conflict among the Three Teachings reached a new stage, with various new schools of Confucianism emerging and engaging in debates over the internal traditions, textual studies, and metaphysical interpretations within the Confucian school, presenting an academic landscape comparable to the Hundred Schools of Thought in pre-Qin times. Clarifying the developmental trajectory of Northern Song philosophical thought helps deepen the understanding of the evolution of traditional Chinese philosophy and can also provide historical insights for contemporary philosophical innovation. Based on academic history, this book provides a comprehensive overview of Northern Song philosophical trends. However, limited by personal knowledge and insight, there are still many rough edges in the writing. Here is a brief overview of the writing process, and I sincerely invite corrections from the learned.
