Features: Hiyama Hideo inherited the tradition of the Japanese social master, Sugimoto Kiyosato, creating mystery novels with strong psychological suspense. His novel "The Dark Season," which won the 5th Sugimoto Kiyosato Prize, is a new type of police novel. The protagonist, an old detective named Oshikubo Michio who once dominated the police force, is the only case he couldn't solve during his tenure—a series of rape and murder cases. Additionally, his beloved younger daughter is also one of the victims.
