Features: Hayek was one of the most important thinkers of the 20th century, and perhaps the one who, despite long periods of neglect or criticism, saw his thought theory respected and recognized in his later years. Hayek had a rich life and academic career. In his early years, he was deeply influenced by the vibrant academic and artistic atmosphere in Vienna, where he showed great promise. Before World War II, he moved to the London School of Economics in the UK, engaging in debates with the highly acclaimed Keynes. After the war, he relocated to the United States, teaching at the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago, where he remained dedicated to his work. Even after the age of 50, he published numerous major works. He had a broad perspective and profound insights, not only winning the Nobel Prize in Economics but also making significant contributions to political and moral philosophy, social theory, legal philosophy, and the history of ideas. However, although his research fields and methods were diverse, resembling a "fox," his fundamental concerns and ideas remained steadfastly like a " hedgehog." In a sense, Hayek's life and writings can be seen as a witness to the 20th century. Hayek's thought has been extensively studied both domestically and internationally. Yongxiang's Mind, Knowledge, and Morality chooses to examine Hayek's complex and often overlooked theory of mind, an angle that has received relatively little attention from both domestic and Western scholars. This book provides an in-depth and meticulous study of the foundations of Hayek's moral philosophy, offering a new perspective and approach to Hayek studies. To write this book, Yongxiang has meticulously gathered and organized a comprehensive collection of original materials from Hayek's works and research, all in foreign languages, ensuring the reliability and accuracy of his sources. Building on a solid foundation of primary research, he has also applied his own intellectual vigor and philosophical insight, bringing them to a level of rigorous analysis. His logic is clear, each point well-supported, and his writing is well-structured with detailed notes. He demonstrates a holistic perspective and offers several original insights. Overall, this is a well-grounded, insightful, and rare work. However, some issues related to modernity or the complexities and even the darkness of human nature seem to have escaped Hayek's focus. For example, Hayek lacks the tension and anxiety that Max Weber experienced in the face of modernity. Is this not also a limitation? Or why might this be the case? It may be worth further attention and exploration in future research. Yongxiang comes from Tu County, where he spent his childhood wandering among the landscapes of Hunan and Xiang. He initially studied computer science as an undergraduate, later pursuing political science, and then ethics for his doctoral studies, effectively moving from natural sciences to social sciences and then to the humanities. He has also demonstrated strong interest and ability in practical fields, though he ultimately chose to focus on thought and academia. These diverse and unique experiences and training will undoubtedly greatly benefit his future research work. At the beginning of the 21st century, Yongxiang came to Peking University to study under me for three years. Our relationship has been close, and I deeply appreciate his rigorous academic approach and capable work ethic. His translation of Diogenes Laertius's Lives and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers is also a testament to his dedication, receiving considerable attention and praise. Yongxiang has a multifaceted and solid theoretical and knowledge foundation, possessing the insight and potential for philosophical work. He combines intellectual brilliance with disciplined expression, maintains a clear and focused sense of inquiry, and continually refines his topics and methods, demonstrating a promising research capability. He has great potential for the future, and I eagerly anticipate his achievements. I。
