Features: Building a new socialist countryside was proposed by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in the new era context of comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society in the 21st century and advancing towards modernization. It is a major historical task in China's modernization process, an integration and expansion of the tasks related to agriculture, rural areas, and farmers, an extension and reinforcement of support and benefit policies for agriculture, and a major deployment in line with historical trends and accelerating modernization. First, based on a profound understanding of the scientific connotation of building a new countryside, it is essential to start from reality and actively explore distinctive paths for building a new countryside. Second, based on scientific planning, focus should be placed on issues that are of primary concern, most direct, and most urgent to the public, highlighting key work priorities. Third, in terms of village improvement and construction, greater emphasis should be placed on local characteristics, making them new highlights. Further enhance the design and construction standards of rural housing, creating homes that not only meet the practical needs of farmers but also feature distinctive aesthetics and strong resistance to typhoons, earthquakes, and natural disasters. This book is the academic outcome of the international symposium "Theory, Practice, and Policy of China's New Countryside Construction," jointly organized by the Rural Research Center, School of Business Administration, and other institutions of Zhejiang Normal University, and supported by departments such as the Rural Economy Research Department of the Development Research Center of the State Council. The main content is divided into four parts: General Introduction, Part One: Theoretical Exploration of New Countryside Construction, Part Two: International Experiences and Domestic Practices in New Countryside Construction, and Part Three: Policy Choices for Building a Socialist New Countryside.
