Early reiterate bed rest, until symptoms significantly improve and liver function shows marked improvement, before going to bed or engaging in exercise. Within the first year of illness or within one and a half years of recovery, heavy physical labor or strenuous exercise should be avoided. The diet should consist of light meals suitable for the patient's taste (to prevent excessive bowel movements) and general supportive therapy. For severe cases, intravenous administration of hypertonic glucose, vitamin C, Gan-Tai-Le (a liver-protecting drug), potassium aspartate-magnesium, and energy mixtures may be given.
