Do they possess an enduring artistic charm and a spiritual vitality that transcends the boundaries of time? Second, the contribution of the works to the development of Chinese children's literature should be evaluated, including unique linguistic creativity, outstanding achievements in literary forms, distinct artistic personalities, prominent innovations in expression, and their significance in the history of children's literature. Third, the creative attitude of the writers should be assessed: whether they are driven by a high sense of cultural responsibility and aesthetic duty, whether they have long been concerned with the spiritual nourishment of minors, and whether they have engaged in children's literature creation for a long time.
Second, The Century Classics is the most comprehensive collection of original children's literary works in modern and contemporary China. This is reflected in: it includes representative figures from five generations of Chinese children's literature writers from the May Fourth New Culture Movement in the early 20th century to the present; the 100 selected writers embody the multi-ethnic characteristics of the Chinese nation, while also presenting a panoramic view of the mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong; the 100 works cover all literary forms related to modern children's studies, making it the most comprehensive collection of original Chinese children's literature in terms of literary genres.
Third, the value of fine works lies in their longevity, and the significance of classics lies in their enduring relevance. The compilers will design and plan a combination that aligns with the aesthetic habits and reading preferences of contemporary young readers, allowing the new generation of readers to accept and appreciate these original Chinese children's literature classics that have deeply moved and nurtured generations of young people.
