Is chronic hepatitis B serious?

Patient's question:

Is elevated ALT related to excessive sexual activity?
I ate a box of Xiagua Shuang and a box of Pangdahai two days before the test. I didn’t mention these things to the doctor, so is it possible I have chronic hepatitis B? What are the possible infection channels?

Doctor's answer:

Elevated transaminase levels are not related to excessive sexual activity. If a patient has liver inflammation, which is indicated by elevated transaminase levels, this usually requires antiviral treatment. If liver function is normal or slightly elevated, such patients may not need immediate treatment. Because liver function indirectly reflects the condition of liver inflammation. If liver function is normal, it indicates that the liver has minimal inflammation. Although this person has been infected with the hepatitis B virus, the virus coexists peacefully within the body. Of course, it may still pose a threat to others, as it does have transmissibility.
