Features: In the first half of the 20th century, China was home to a group of unforgettable historical figures. They rose from humble beginnings and poverty, yet created one incredible myth after another and staged one sensational and absurd story after another. Zhang Zuolin, Yan Xishan, Duan Qirui, Sun Chuanfang, Wu Peifu, Feng Yuxiang, Lu Rongting, Long Yun, Zhang Zongchang, and Han Fuzhi—these heroes each had vivid stories and rich lives. Although heroes never speak of aging, the later lives of these local warlords were far from satisfactory, and their endings were all different: some were killed by others, some were exiled and died, and some died in accidents. It’s both amusing and bittersweet to recount their tales.
