Features: Massage therapy is a valuable legacy of traditional Chinese medicine and an important component of TCM. Throughout the long history of TCM development, massage has played a significant role as a therapeutic method, contributing to human health. In recent years, with the global trend of returning to nature, massage therapy has entered a period of vigorous development. The medical community has conducted continuous research, leading to a clearer understanding of its mechanisms. Currently, this therapy is used worldwide, including in China, to treat various diseases. In terms of health maintenance massage, its benefits in restoring fatigue, relieving stress, and improving quality of life have gained increasing attention, making it a method more widely learned and applied.
However, as a unique therapeutic discipline within the massage field that integrates health preservation, disease prevention, and longevity extension, health maintenance massage requires practitioners not only to have basic medical anatomy and acupoint knowledge but also to master various massage techniques and principles. This series of books includes six titles: Hong Kong-style Massage, Thai Massage, Korean Bone Relaxation, Japanese Pressure Points, New-style Foot Massage, and Health Maintenance Massage Techniques. Each book is divided into two parts: an overview and a procedure. The overview introduces the characteristics, effects, indications, contraindications, precautions, technique classification, and commonly used acupoints of each massage style. The procedure presents the routines of the massage in a diagrammatic form, accompanied by detailed textual explanations. This combination of visuals and text ensures clarity, making it easy to learn and master, as well as facilitating practical application.
Currently, the service industry has seen the emergence of numerous massage programs, and various massage classes have also sprung up, with students ranging in age and experience. Most of these classes are designed for quick learning, with short durations of only 1–3 months. In such a short period, it is far from sufficient to learn standardized massage techniques and acupoint knowledge. Therefore, we have organized experts to compile the "Standard Wellness Massage Tutorial Series" with the aim of providing standardized, actionable skills for readers who have a certain foundation but cannot yet operate independently.
This series is a highly professional textbook-style publication, catering to a broad readership with a high school education or higher. It can serve as teaching material for various massage classes, technical guidance for massage therapists and beauticians, and a reference book for family health maintenance.
