Each volume is labeled with the volume title without numbering. The main text of each volume is arranged in the order of the Chinese pinyin letters of the entry titles. To provide readers with multiple retrieval channels, each volume is equipped with a classified directory of entries, a stroke index of Chinese characters for entry titles, a foreign language index of entry titles, and a content index. The comprehensive volume also includes a chronology of major metallurgical events. This book is organized into volumes based on the knowledge system of each metallurgical discipline, with individual volumes or combined volumes published. Each volume has a classified directory of all entries in the volume, reflecting the hierarchical relationship between entries, to help readers understand the overall picture of the discipline and retrieve entries based on the knowledge system. This book uses entries as the basic knowledge unit. Each entry consists of an entry title and an explanation. The entry title includes the Chinese title, its pinyin, and the foreign name (entries with special Chinese content generally do not include a foreign name). The explanation includes necessary charts and tables, and a table of contents for hierarchical headings in longer entries. Important entries have reference bibliographies appended to their explanations for readers to select for further reading. The names of the authors are listed after each entry. The entries in each volume of this book are arranged in alphabetical order of the Chinese pinyin letters of the entry titles. First, entries are arranged by the pinyin of the first character, and if the first characters are the same, the second character's pinyin determines the order, and so on. Entries starting with Latin letters are placed in the corresponding position within that letter section; entries starting with Greek letters are placed at the end of all entries in the book.
