Features: The elasticity of ballasted track almost entirely comes from the rail fastening system, and the precision of ballasted track is entirely maintained and adjusted by the fastening system. Modern rail fastening systems are evolving toward low stiffness, long service life, low cost, and coordinated technological development to meet the four fundamental criteria of high-speed, environmentally friendly, labor-saving, and adjustable. In high-speed rail ballasted track structures, rail fastening systems play an extremely important role and function. The rail fastening system is a major key technology related to the success of ballasted track. Although rail fasteners are small, their role is significant, and they are widely used with close interconnections—thus, they should not be taken lightly. To meet the engineering requirements of China's railway leapfrog development and the construction of high-speed rail ballasted track, and in line with the principles of introducing, absorbing, and innovating while promoting related industries, this book has been reorganized and compiled based on the research findings, engineering applications, and exchange experiences of scholars at home and abroad, as well as the author's years of teaching, research, and lecture notes. This book covers representative rail fastening systems from around the world, such as Japan's elastic pad fasteners, Germany's Vossloh fasteners, France's Nabla fasteners, and the UK's Pandrol fasteners, as well as China's new rail fastening systems, including relevant structural features, design methods, technical requirements, and engineering applications. In the writing process, efforts have been made to ensure clear concepts, rich information, comprehensive data, illustrative visuals, and practical focus, to serve as a reference for researchers, designers, manufacturers, constructors, maintainers, and students and faculty in higher education institutions.
