Can epilepsy be treated in a hospital?

Patient's question:

My wife came home last night, and she might have been too tired from work, but I thought she was someone lying on the ground twitching, foaming at the mouth, and saying crazy things, out of her mind. That's when I realized she had epilepsy. Can you believe how serious epilepsy is?

Doctor's answer:

Epilepsy is divided into two types: primary epilepsy and secondary epilepsy. Primary epilepsy is caused by unclear reasons. Secondary epilepsy may be caused by reasons such as a patient's history of brain trauma, encephalitis, cerebrovascular disease, or brain hypoxia due to poisoning. When epilepsy has a acute recurrence, the main prevention is to avoid patients from experiencing breathing difficulties due to foreign objects blocking the airway, or other hazards such as tongue bite. If the epilepsy symptoms recur frequently, oral antiepileptic drugs can be taken to solve the problem. If the epilepsy attack lasts for a long time, or if it is a grand mal seizure, it should be taken to the hospital immediately for antiepileptic sedation treatment.
