After sexual activity, bleeding from the glans penis

Patient's question:

On March 4th, after sexual activity, I stood up to urinate, and all the urine coming out was blood, along with blood clots. At other times, there was no blood in my urine. What could be the cause of this?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, the presence of blood in semen is known as hematospermia. It is typically pink, red, brownish-red, or streaked with blood. Depending on the nature of the lesion and the amount of blood present, it can manifest as gross hematospermia, blood clots, or microscopic hematospermia.
Common causes include: inflammation of the seminal vesicles and prostate, tuberculosis, filariasis, stones, and injuries, among which seminal vesiculitis is the most common; certain tumors such as seminal vesicle or prostate cancer, papillary tumor of the verumontanum, and benign prostatic hyperplasia can also cause hematospermia. Varicocele and some hematologic diseases may also lead to hematospermia.
It is recommended that you visit a hospital for a thorough examination to identify the underlying cause and receive targeted treatment.
