Features: The study of mountainous soil in Fujian not only holds significant importance for the sustainable utilization of regional resources but also represents a certain characteristic in China's subtropical mountainous and hilly areas. Based on the important advancements in contemporary soil science, this book systematically elaborates on the classification of mountainous soil in Fujian and its "water" and "fertilizer" characteristics using the soil system classification method, the concept of soil water energy state, and the modern concept of soil fertilization. The first part of the book reviews the formation characteristics of mountainous soil in Fujian, identifies the diagnostic horizons and diagnostic properties of the main mountainous soils, and conducts an in-depth study of the types and distribution of soil moisture and temperature conditions across the province. It retrieves and determines the classification attribution and reference classification of representative soil profiles, proposes for the first time a draft of the soil system classification retrieval table for Fujian soil, and summarizes the basic distribution patterns and regional differentiation of mountainous soil in Fujian based on the system classification. It also proposes revisions to the Chinese soil system classification and reveals the application value of quantitative soil classification in sustainable soil utilization. The second part of the book takes cultivated land, the main agricultural type of mountainous soil, as the research object. Based on the water characteristic curves of each soil layer in the sampled area, which were measured for the first time, it clarifies the soil moisture characteristics and their regulation mechanisms, as well as the nutrient status of cultivated land soil and its fertilization pathways. The content is rich and the data is detailed. This book can serve as a reference for professionals in the fields of soil, geography, resources, environment, ecology, and for university teachers and students, as well as for business personnel in agricultural, forestry, and water conservancy sectors.
