Features: Language and characters are the most important media for social communication. The teaching and learning of language and characters must adhere to unified and standardized standards, and the application of language and characters requires standardization. This is an important requirement of modern society for the field of language and character application. To provide Chinese and normal universities, teachers, students, and language and character workers in society with a most standardized and authoritative reference book on the pronunciation and form of Chinese characters, we have compiled this "Handbook of Language and Character Application Standards." This book mainly selects policies, regulations, and national standards issued by departments such as the State Education Commission, the State Language and Character Working Committee, and the Press and Publication Administration over the years (up to May 1998). A significant portion of the book is dedicated to illustrating the stroke order of 3,500 common characters, which is particularly designed to facilitate the teaching of character recognition and writing in primary and secondary schools. In the future, we will continuously supplement and update materials as needed to ensure that the application of language and characters truly follows established rules and regulations, thereby fundamentally eliminating the chaos in the use of language and characters in society.
