Features: The Revised Edition of "Eight Fujian General Gazetteer" was published by Fujian People's Publishing House. Although Fujian local chronicles had existed as early as the Eastern Jin Dynasty when Tao Kui, the of Jin'an Prefecture, compiled "Record of Minzhou," and later when Gu Yewang of the Xiao and Liang Dynasties wrote "Record of Jian'an Region," as well as the "Record of Minzhou" compiled by Lin Wei in the Tang Dynasty and continued by Lin Shicheng in the Song Dynasty, they had long been lost. The "Three Mountains Chronicle" by Liang Kejia of the Song Dynasty was limited to the area around Fuzhou. Only the "Eight Fujian General Gazetteer" compiled by Huang Zhongzhao of the Ming Dynasty can be considered the existing first comprehensive Fujian provincial local chronicle. The "Eight Fujian General Gazetteer" was supervised by Chen Dao, the eunuch in charge of guarding the region, and compiled by Huang Zhongzhao. It was first compiled in the year of Bingzi (1485) during the Chenghua reign of the Ming Dynasty, completed in the year of Jiyou (1489) during the Hongzhi reign, published in the year of Gengxu (1490) during the Hongzhi reign, and followed by a revised edition the next year. Currently, only the Library of Congress in Beijing and the Library of Hunan Normal University in Hunan possess one copy each of the Gengxu edition. In Taiwan Province, the collected copies are incomplete. Overseas, the Library of Congress in the United States and the Imperial Household Library in Japan hold revised editions, which are also incomplete. The "Eight Fujian General Gazetteer" is a rare and seldom-seen version. The present is based on the Gengxu edition of the Hongzhi reign.
