Features: This textbook was originally organized and compiled by the Teaching Staff Department of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission for use by primary school teachers advancing to higher normal education programs in the liberal arts direction. It is now one of the "Small University" textbooks organized and recommended for nationwide use by the Ministry of Education's Department of Normal Education. The establishment of higher normal education programs for primary school teachers is guided by China's education principle of "facing modernization, the world, and the future," aiming to comprehensively improve primary school teachers' ideological and political awareness, professional ethics, professional knowledge, educational theory, teaching and learning abilities, and research capabilities in education. The goal is to build a new team of primary school teaching staff that is adaptable to the reform and development needs of secondary education in the early 21st century.
When compiling textbooks for the primary education major, efforts are made to align with the objective requirements of China's social development and the characteristics of practicing primary school teachers. The textbooks reflect the advancement and innovation of the times, the scientific and systematic nature of the knowledge system, the professionalism and comprehensiveness of normal education, as well as the practicality and specificity of the content. The compilers strive to incorporate the latest research findings into each course textbook as much as possible. In terms of professional knowledge, attention is paid to aligning with the knowledge structure of secondary normal education and undergraduate programs in higher normal education. In terms of comprehensive knowledge, the foundation is strengthened and the breadth of knowledge is expanded to meet the needs of primary school teachers who have a clear subject orientation while also being able to teach other subjects. In terms of textbook layout, learning outlines, reflection and exercises, and reference materials are included to facilitate part-time study and self-learning for learners.
