Features: Introduction This book is a partial report of the research achievements of the "Six Dynasties Taoism Research" project team at the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kyoto University, during its first phase (April 1986 to March 1991) and second phase (April 1991 to March 1996). The main text was originally published as "Annotations Draft" in Journal of East Asian Studies (Issue 68, 1996). Based on the serialized articles, we have added an annotated glossary and index, compiling them into this book. The term "partial report" is used because the research team's primary goal was to collectively read Zhenjiao and complete its annotations. The collective reading of Zhenjiao has already resulted in the publication of two anthologies of essays written by team members: Studies on Ancient Chinese Taoism (Iwanami Shoten, 1992) and Studies on Six Dynasties Taoism (Shunshun Shogakusha, 1998).
