2. Cause of Disease The disease is often introduced into a pigeon flock by infected pigeons or transmitted from other domestic birds in the surrounding area.
3. Prevention and Treatment Currently, there is no effective treatment for this disease, and antibiotics are also ineffective. The effective method is to immunize healthy pigeon flocks with inactivated residual and weak vaccine to prevent the introduction of infected pigeons.

is an acute or chronic infectious disease of pigeons caused by Salmonella. It can affect pigeons of all ages, with young and juvenile pigeons having a higher incidence than adult pigeons. It is one of the most common and severe diseases among pigeon diseases. Individual pigeons may die acutely. The course of the disease is generally 3-5 days, but it can last more than 3 weeks in some cases.
1. Symptoms and Lesions The affected pigeons have elevated body temperature, usually between 42.5-43.5°C, listlessness, reduced appetite, increased thirst, and drooping wings. Diarrhea occurs, with some having watery feces, often green and foul-smelling. The wattle loses its original color. In longer-lasting cases, neurological symptoms may appear, such as head tilt, head elevation, inaccurate pecking, circling movements, and episodic convulsions. Autopsy reveals intestinal lesions, including thickened, congested, and hemorrhagic intestinal walls with yellow pasty material. The liver and spleen are enlarged and hemorrhagic, with pinpoint gray necrotic spots or hemorrhagic streaks. The lungs and heart surfaces have grayish-white nodules.
2. Pathogen and Cause The pathogens are Salmonella and Salmonella typhimurium. This bacterium is a common conditional pathogen in the pigeon intestine and can cause the disease under stress such as nutritional deficiencies, cold, or excessive fatigue.
3. Prevention and Treatment Antibiotics can be used for treatment. Streptomycin and chloramphenicol are relatively effective. Streptomycin is administered three times daily at a dose of 50,000 units per time, for 3 days. Chloramphenicol is given three times daily at a dose of 5 mL per time, for 3 days. Affected pigeons should be isolated promptly, and the, surrounding environment, and equipment should be thoroughly disinfected.
IV.
is an acute hemorrhagic septicemic disease caused by Pasteurella multocida, also known as pigeon pasteurellosis, and is a bacterial disease shared by multiple types of livestock and poultry. It primarily affects juvenile and adult pigeons. Affected pigeons often die within 1-2 days, with some cases of sudden or short-term deaths.
1. Symptoms and Lesions The affected pigeons have elevated body temperature, usually above 42°C. They appear listless, refuse to eat, close their eyes, retract their necks, have ruffled feathers, and lie in one corner. They are thirsty and drink more water, often with yellow oily liquid flowing from their mouths. The conjunctiva is red or has inflammatory secretions. Nasal discharge occurs, and the wattle loses its original color. Some affected pigeons have diarrhea, with watery feces mixed with white or green mucus. It is common to find undigested feed or liquid in the crop. The throat and trachea are congested, and the lungs are congested or have hemorrhagic spots. The pericardial fluid is increased, with pinpoint hemorrhagic spots on the coronary fat. The liver is enlarged and congested, with some cases showing white necrotic spots on the surface. The intestinal mucosa is congested or hemorrhagic. In some cases, the kidneys are swollen and congested.
2. Cause of Disease Poor husbandry, malnutrition, sudden changes in weather, or long-distance transportation can all trigger the disease.
3. Prevention Good hygiene and regular disinfection of the are essential. The should be kept dry, and the flock density should not be too high. Once the disease occurs, affected pigeons should be isolated immediately, and dead pigeons should be
