Features: Anhui boasts a long history and rich culture. Ancient art schools like the Xin'an School of Painting, Huizhou Woodblock Prints, and modern and contemporary art masters such as Huang Binhong have left behind a profound historical legacy for Anhui. This undoubtedly provided the historical conditions for Anhui artists, born in the homeland of the "Four Treasures of the Study," to accumulate strength, innovate, and reform. Fang Zhaoxiang summarized the achievements of Anhui art over the past 50 years into two aspects: first, the creation of distinctive socialist realism art that can be recorded in history; and second, the formation of artistic concepts under reform and opening-up and a diversified creative landscape. Fang Zhaoxiang also said, "The 50 years of Anhui art have been a period of vigorous development and outstanding achievements, a period that has nurtured a large number of artists, and a period full of hope and relentless progress!" Anhui Art: Fifty Years (,) comprehensively showcases the full picture of Anhui art creation from 1949 to 1999. The works included cover prize-winning pieces from exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Culture and the China Artists Association, works collected by national-level art museums, representative works of Chinese Artists Association members with senior professional titles, representative works of famous old Anhui painters, and selected works from the 50th Anniversary of the National Day Art Exhibition. These works "still evoke a strong sense of life and the pulse of the times," and the genuine emotions we feel in the works have become an irreplaceable medium that integrates Anhui artists with reality. This may be the very reason why these works are beloved by the people and possess enduring vitality. The illustrations are arranged by category: Chinese painting, oil painting, woodblock print, sculpture, watercolor/watercolor painting, New Year pictures, sequential pictures/propaganda posters/illustrations/caricatures/lacquer painting. This art album is an embodiment of the strategic approach to leveraging the "Hui" identity and promoting the cultural spirit of Huangshan pine. The preface features Fang Zhaoxiang's Preface, Bao Jia's The Great River Flows Eastward—Reflecting on the 50 Years of Anhui Art, followed by a Bibliography of Works, Biographies of Artists, and Chen Faren's Postscript after the illustrations.
