John Thompson's Easy Piano Course Color Version 4 (with CD)

Author: John Thompson (USA)

Publish Date: 2003-04-01
Features: The main purpose of this book is to give students the opportunity to further enhance their familiarity and application of the knowledge learned in the previous volumes. For this reason, the book no longer introduces additional technical requirements but only presents several new keys: E major, B major, A? major, D? major, and G? major. The examples of new keys are intentionally written in a very simple manner. The ledger lines between the treble clef are also illustrated with diagrams, helping students identify the notes on the ledger lines in an easy-to-understand way. The explanation of dotted quarter notes uses examples in 3/4 and 4/4 time signatures, along with some examples that require finger changes for repeated notes. Of course, this approach expands the range of hand movement and prepares students for the introduction of a new technique in Volume 5: the thumb passing under the hand and the other fingers crossing over the thumb. When playing some of the later pieces in this book, students are allowed to use the pedal simply and preliminarily, preparing them for the detailed study of pedal art in Volume 5. Overall, in addition to the points summarized above, this book is primarily a review book. It should give students the opportunity to fully enjoy the fruits of their hard work so far, while improving their piano playing skills and cultivating their sense of music and overall understanding of music. Upon completing this book, each student will be equipped with the conditions for greater technical progress, and the next volume will include longer passages to play. At that time, every effort should be made to play each piece in the book as artistically as possible.
